MURDERED: Dawn Svocak
On September 21, 1984, two farmers were cutting down crops in Beekmantown, a few miles outside of the City of Plattsburgh, when they found the decomposed body of a missing SUNY Plattsburgh student. The victim, Dawn Svocak, was identified by dental records. An autopsy determined she died from blunt force trauma.
BEHIND-THE-SCENES: Fingerprinting with NYSP at Troop B
Local 22/44 News was able to get behind-the-scenes access with the New York State Police Forensic Identification Unit at Troop B in Ray Brook. Senior Investigator Brendan Frost showed me a few different ways to collect and process fingerprints from a crime scene.
SUICIDE: Unidentifed Man
On September 1st, 1986, off Route 73 in North Elba, New York, a young couple was looking for a spot to set up their tent for the night, thinking the Ausable River with a view of the Olympic Ski Jumps would be great… That is until they found something disturbing; a human skull.
